IJmond Bereikbaar is a mobility programme in a region where many people live, work and recreate together. IJmond Bereikbaar works together with the municipalities of Beverwijk, Heemskerk and Velsen, the IJmond Regional Planning Department and the business community to create a region that is easily accessible and healthy. The aim is to bring about a change in behaviour that will lead to quieter rush hours, fewer (business) car kilometres and more bicycle kilometres. The result is CO2 reduction, cost savings and attention to vitality. Toogethr cycles and Toogethr Rideshare are the perfect solution for this.
What did we do?
IJmond Bereikbaar already successfully deployed Toogethr Rideshare to stimulate riding together. The step to contribute to the development of the cycling app Toogethr Cycles was quickly made. A part of the existing cycling community was seamlessly transferred to Toogethr Cycles. To further publicize the app, several activations took place on location and the communication channels of IJmond Bereikbaar and the companies they work with were used. Tailor-made cycling competitions have been organised at various organisations. Four times a year, a cycling challenge is held for the entire IJmond cycling community. The cyclists earn points, can win prizes and together they cycle to a regional charity. In the meantime, the focus is not only on the kilometres travelled to work but also on stimulating a healthy break from working at home.
